Writer’s Building Block with Choreographer, Bill T Jones: Movement is a Process

I found Bill T Jones work by accident in 2011 when I was exploring poetry in many mediums, scoping Youtube for any piece of dance and movement that reflected my strong sense of being and presence through actions in the body.

As an acclaimed choreographer, director, and writer whose work blends dance, text, and visual art to address identity, politics, and memory, T Jones' legacy is a bridge between personal storytelling to social consciousness, the personal, the culturally political.

He shook the dance world with his belief that process is not just preparation for performance—it is the performance. Jones with dance colleague, Arnie Zane, shaped the contemporary dance world with emotionally powerful and intellectually erudite performances

T. Jones values the honesty in the bear bones of the making process, and exalts what is discovered in the moment as equally as important as the finished result.

We're going to do this with as this month's Building Block writing catalysts.

With 4 powerful catalysts to encourage your hidden creativity to step forward, Zena Edwards leads this month’s Writer’s Building Block with the foresight of a poet who has danced, used movement and voice to create monologues and one-person shows.
